Watching over you

Since he had been shot into his hindleg, Bold always had to depent onto the help of other animals. He never was happy with that, indeed it hurt him deeply, for he had left his father and the security of White Deer Park to live after his name: Bold.
When he met Whisper he felt the weight of his injury stronger than ever. He should have been the one who did the huntung; he should have been the one to protect his mate and family; but he was only a cripple not able even to look after himself.

This picture illustrates Bolds innermost dream: To watch over his beloved vixen, to protect her, to be of worth for her. Healthy again, in a spring to come. But that should never be...

My third and last "trial" with watercolour in 2001. Though the shading is far from perfect, I finally managed to get the colours as I wanted them. I really love this picture for its colours, and for the story behind. Sadly, because of its size (60*90 cm again) I was only able to take a low quality photo.
