Elen Rusco caluva tielyanna.

The young fox lifted his eyes up to the top of the firs, whose blackness surpassed even the nothingness of the night sky. Up there his thoughts were cleared. Up there he had always retrieved his valour. For up there gleamed Rusco, the Fox, his star, smiling at him.

Rusco. Few foxes remembered the meaning of those stars, and even less believed the old stories rumoured about them. Beren had to gather his experiences with him, too, as a start. Rusco was just like a real fox: difficult to perceive but always present. When all other lights went out, Rusco was there.

Maybe the time had come to trust him. To trust this star. A weird thought. Beren looked up again, lying on the cold soil. Rusco moved west. Always west. The Elders said he carried a goose in his jaws. Such an obvious invitation... and I've nothing to lose.


I followed my star, and I found you.
